Laser hair removal

The fastest way to get rid of hair while leaving other areas of your body untouched. It leaves your skin clearer and smoother some hours after sessions. The cheapest and effortless method in the long run; you only have to go to a few sessions and your hair won't grow for years.

What is Laser Hair Removal, And How Does it Work?

Laser hair removal is the process of getting rid of face and body hair using laser light. This technique destroys the hair follicle to prevent hair from growing, thus providing a long-lasting effect. Recently, it has become more popular than other hair removal techniques, since it’s a safe and lasting way to keep your skin smooth and silky.

The laser hair removal technique uses specific wavelengths of laser light to destroy the growth cells of your hair. This does not mean that you will have completely hairless skin after just one session since not all hair follicles can be removed at once. But you’ll only need 5 to 10 appointments to stop worrying about face and body hair for years.

Benefits Of Laser Hair Removal

Shaving and waxing are common ways to remove hair and they can even be done at home. However, they can have some very bothersome disadvantages. These techniques only remove hair for a short period of time and produce some unpleasant side effects, such as irritated skin and ingrown hair. Compared to other hair removal methods, laser hair removal has a lot of unmatched benefits.

The fastest way to get rid of hair is by using the laser technique. The laser eliminates many hair follicles at once and can cover wide areas of skin in only a few minutes.

With laser hair removal you can target specific areas of your body while leaving others untouched if you like.

Improves Skin

The problem with waxing is that it is usually very uncomfortable. Shaving causes razor burns and ingrown hairs. Inflammation, irritation, and red bumps are common consequences of traditional methods of hair removal. With laser hair removal, although there might be slight redness after the treatment, this will usually go down within a few hours, leaving your skin clearer and smoother.

No matter what hair removal method you choose, it’s going to cost you some money. If you shave or wax, you will have to buy the materials, then do it every few days or weeks. This costs you more money and effort in the long run. But with laser hair removal, you only have to go to a few sessions and your hair won't grow for years.

Commonly Treated Areas For Women And Men

Laser hair removal can be used on your whole body and face. However, some areas are more popular targets of this technique than others. Women prefer to remove hair from their legs, armpits, upper lip, and bikini area. For men, the most common targets of hair removal are the face, ears, shoulders, chest, and back.

Other areas that tend to be treated with laser light are the eyebrows, hands and feet, abdomen, and buttocks.

Pre-Treatment Instructions

Laser hair removal is very safe, but it’s still a medical procedure. That means some simple preparations are needed before your appointment. For more complete instructions, please contact us. Nonetheless, here are some basic rules that you need to follow before getting laser hair removal.
Avoid UV (sunlight, tanning beds, and spray tans) for two weeks prior to the session.
Remove all of your makeup or skin products before the treatment.
Stop plucking and waxing 3-4 weeks before the appointment.
Shave the area to be treated 1 or 2 days before laser therapy.
If you’re taking any medication, please notify us beforehand. You might need to stop using some of them for at least two weeks.

If you have any skin infection, irritation, or tissue trauma, call us and consult with a dermatologist. You might need to reschedule your appointment or take medication to improve your condition before getting the treatment.

Post-Treatment Instructions

These tips will help your treated area heal better and will make the treatment more effective:
Avoid direct sunlight or tanning exposure for two or three weeks after the session. Generally, it’s advisable to avoid sunlight as much as possible between sessions.
Don't go to the gym, sauna, or take a hot shower for 24 hours after the treatment.
Don't exfoliate your skin or use tanning lotions for at least 2 weeks.
Don’t pick scabs, rub, or scratch the treated area.
Maintain proper hygiene in the treated area.
If the treated area is on your face, don’t use makeup for 24 hours after treatment.
If you follow these simple rules, your laser hair removal treatment will be more effective. However, here are some minor things that you need to look out for after your treatment session:
There will be slight swelling in the treated area, but this only means that the treatment was successful. Redness and itching are also common, but these will usually disappear after an hour or two.
It will take 4-10 sessions for your hair follicles to stop growing. When your sessions are done it will be months or even years before your hair grows back again. However, when they do, they will be finer, lighter, and fewer compared to before.
If you get bruises, scabs, or changes in skin tone, it means that there were errors in the procedure or you haven’t complied with the instructions properly.
If the redness, itching, and swelling persist for more than 48 hours, contact your doctor and they will prescribe you with a steroid or antibiotic cream to reduce any discomfort.

Recovery & Results

Recovery after laser hair removal is fast and painless. You will be able to return to your daily activities immediately. If you follow your pre- and post-treatment instructions, applying cold compresses to the treated area if it feels sensitive is enough for it to heal properly and stop bringing discomfort, if any.

Although all your hair won’t disappear immediately, you’ll notice it becoming fewer little by little. After several sessions, you’ll lastingly get rid of it. Even if you choose to stop the laser treatment, the remaining hair of the treated area will become much thinner, lighter, and barely noticeable.

laser hair removal frequently asked questions

What to expect from laser hair removal?

Before the procedure, your skin will be cleansed and you will need to wear protective glasses. Then the therapist will apply laser light to the area of your skin where you want the hair removed. You might experience a slight tingling, but most patients don’t find the procedure painful.

How long does a session take?

The length of a session will depend on the area being treated. For example, if the treatment will be on the face or armpit, it can be done in just a few minutes. However, for the treatment of extensive areas of skin, you’ll need to allow at least an hour for your appointment.

Are the results permanent?

After you complete treatment with laser light, your hair won’t grow for many months or even several years. However, if you want to keep your skin smooth for longer, you’ll need maintenance sessions from time to time.

Will it work well for me?

In the past, laser hair removal only worked for people with light skin and dark hair. However, the technologies have developed, and now you can get your hair removed with laser light regardless of your hair or skin color. A specific type of laser light will be used depending on your skin and hair type. But don’t worry! Our clinic has the knowledge and experience to perform safe and effective laser hair removal.

Is laser hair removal safe?

Laser hair removal is a non-invasive procedure and it doesn’t cause any serious side effects. The only risk of using a laser is eye damage. However, since you will be wearing protective eye-wear, there’s nothing to worry about. The rest of your body can be treated with laser risk-free.

Although laser hair removal is generally a safe and effective technique, there are some cases where it either can’t be used or treatment must be delayed until you are in suitable conditions to receive it. You cannot undergo laser hair removal if you relate to any of the following:
You’re younger than 15 years old
You’re pregnant
You’ve been exposed to UV within the last two weeks
You suffer from photic seizures
You have any diseases that cause easy blistering of the skin, such as Epidermolysis Bullosa, Pemphigus Vulgaris, or Kaposi’s sarcoma
You take or have recently taken anticoagulants, gold therapy, heart medication, or medication for acne or other skin conditions
You have AIDS
You have had cancer in the treated area
Any other active diseases in the treated area
If you suffer from any other disease or take any other medications, please inform your doctor before getting a laser hair removal treatment. Different substances and conditions may cause different effects from the treatment and your doctor will decide whether you should stop it, take a break, or simply take extra precautions. Also, tell your doctor if the area you want to treat has tattoos, scars, infections, or injuries.
